iPRAKTIKUM – German in the City School Partnership 2019-20

Dear German Students,

Find out if teaching is your thing! The iPRAKTIKUM team is pleased to announce the third edition of the ‘German in the City School Partnership’, an internship program that sends qualified UofT students to German programs at GTA schools.

The ‘German in the City’ program is designed to provide you with an opportunity to use your German skills in a work environment, make professional contacts in the teaching field, and contribute to the broader GTA community. Your internship experience can be accredited in the form of a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) that will appear on your U of T transcript.

These are paid placements that may include co-teaching, job shadowing, one-on-one tutoring, mentoring, and the development of learning materials and special projects. You may also interact with graduate student mentors on and off site. Preparation will include a pre-placement boot camp. Teaching assignments and tasks will be assigned in consultation with our lead teachers on site. Every effort will be made to accommodate your course schedule and other commitments at the U of T.

The iPRAKTIKUM team is looking for undergraduate students who have completed at least GER 300 and are able to commit 2-4 hours per week during the fall or spring terms as needed by our partner schools. Compensation will be based on the standard rate of $24/hour. Placements will begin in mid-September.

Please submit a statement of interest, cv, a copy of your U of T transcript (unofficial is fine), and the contact information of at least one U of T instructor who has agreed to support your application.

Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 (deadline extended).

Please send your application materials to iPRAKTIKUM leads Helena Juenger and Stefan Soldovieri at: ipraktikum@utoronto.

If you have any accommodation needs, please email ipraktikum@utoronto.ca and we will do our best to assist you.
