Dear Students,
If you are learning German and are interested in gaining work experience during your studies while taking advantage of your German skills then listen up now!
The iPRAKTIKUM team is seeking applicants for an exciting internship opportunity in Freiburg, one of Europe’s greenest cities. This time, the placement will be with our partner Agronauten: Have you ever wondered how and what you eat impacts the environment? Or how that potato made its way to your plate? Would you like to contribute to a greener future by learning about local food systems or getting hands-on experiences “in the field”?
If this applies to you then you might be the person we are looking for…
Agronauten is a non-profit association that researches and communicates many aspects related to food and farming culture – especially regional, organic agriculture and food systems that are viable for the future. They work on topics like partnership models of producers and consumers, access to land for agroecological farmers, self-empowered technological solutions for farmers, regional logistics, integration of refugees through agriculture, indicators of farm sustainability and change of food and farming culture.
In addition, Agronauten works regularly with schools, organising exhibitions, giving lectures at universities and the organisation is involved in events like the AgriKultur Festival, which is about putting agriculture in a cultural context again. This is a diverse placement: you would not only do educational, research and PR work and help organize cultural events, but also have the opportunity for hands-on experiences working in the field!
We offer pre-placement advising, support while you are on the job, and post-internship follow-up.
How an internship can benefit you:
• Apply the skills you learn in the classroom in workplace situations.
• Gain valuable experience in innovative green-sector companies and organizations.
• Practice your German and develop global fluency.
• Gain insight into international work culture and jump-start a future career.
• Engage with local and global communities.
• Get course credit or a co-curricular citation on your U of T transcript.
The iPRAKTIKUM team is accepting statements of interest for our Germany-based program, futurGenerator, which focusses on sustainability and social innovation-oriented organizations and companies in a variety of fields, including environmental education, migration projects, policy and practical conservation work.
*We are very pleased to be able to support your placement with a stipend to help cover some of your living expenses in Germany!*
If you are interested in an internship experience with futurGenerator, send us a brief statement of interest and a copy of your university transcript (an unofficial copy is fine). Send your statement as an attachmentnd include information about your level of German proficiency. You will find more information about some of our partners on our website. Testimonials by previous interns here.
Note: For this placement, you should have at least completed GER 200 or have reached the B2/C1 language level.
At this stage you are not applying directly to one of our partners. After we receive your materials, we’ll connect you to them if we think you are the right fit. We are accepting statements of interest until: 15 April 2022
