The Department congratulates Professor John Zilcosky for winning the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Bessel is awarded in recognition of the entire body of work of a scholar in any academic discipline in a world-wide selection process. There are only roughly 20 Bessel Award recipients per year. Since 2013, out of the roughly 100 Bessel Award winners, only 14 world-wide were from the Humanities, and out of these only two from Canadian institutions. Congratulations to John Zilcosky on this fabulous recognition of his scholarly work.
