Guest lecture, Sept 12: Carlotta von Maltzan: “Literarische Reisen ins neue Südafrika”

CARLOTTA VON MALTZAN is Professor of German at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. She is editor of the journal Acta Germanica. German Studies in Africa, co-editor of Jahrbuch für Internationale Germanistik (Yearbook of International German Studies) and Board member of the International Society for
Intercultural German Studies (GiG) as well as of the German African Centre at Yaoundé /Cameroon. Her latest publications include Kulturbegegnung und Kulturkonflikt im (post-)kolonialen Kriminalroman (Coeditors: Michaela Holdenried, Barbara Korte, Peter Lang 2017), Gesellschaften in Bewegung. Literatur und Sprache in Krisen und Umbruchszeiten (Co-editors: Ernest Hess-Lüttich, Kathleen Thorpe, Peter Lang, 2016) Magie und Sprache (Peter Lang, 2012), and Sport, Spiel und Leidenschaft. Afrikanische und deutsche Perspektiven (Co-editor David Simo, Wilhelm Fink, 2012). Her current research focuses on writing Africa in German fiction.
