Job Posting: Administrative Assistant

The DAAD Information Centre in Toronto is seeking to hire an administrative assistant on a part-time basis (10-15 hours/week). This position will run from June 15th through to November 15th, 2015 with the possibility of a contract extension depending on performance.

The DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service is the German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation. We offer programs and funding for students, faculty, researchers and others in higher education, providing financial support to over 119,000 individuals per year. We also represent the German higher education system abroad, promote Germany as an academic and research destination, and help build ties between institutions around the world.

The DAAD Information Centre in Toronto carries out activities across Canada. In October 2015 the Information Centre will oversee two large-scale events in Toronto and Vancouver for which it requires support. The new administrative assistant will assist in the preparation of both these events and the carrying out of the event in Toronto. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience using and working with social media (facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience planning, organizing and publicizing events (e.g. arranging catering,
    accommodation and venues, making travel arrangements) and/or in office administration
  • A history working with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (primarily Word, Excel and
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of the German and/or French languages would be considered an asset.
This position will be remunerated at a rate of $28/hour and hired on a freelance basis.
