Check out PhD student Maria Harutyunyan’s new children’s book “The Wounded Earth“.
Maria on her book: “The inspiration for this book came after receiving many questions from my child about environmentalism and pollution. As the questions began to flood in, I realized that it would be best for us to explore this topic together. On our quest for answers, we did some research about the possible consequences of environmental pollution. We also looked for ways in which we could help the environment. I felt that illustrating these concepts would bring them to life. The personification of the earth would help communicate its pain. Making children the main protagonists in the story would serve as a reflection and a source of inspiration. By writing this book, my aim is not only to give information about the environment, but to also encourage action. Reading the finished book with my child and seeing his excitement and engagement, I realized that this was a better way to provide answers to his many questions. We hope that you enjoy reading this book and learning about the environment as much as we did!”
