CfP: Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Competition

The University of. Toronto’s Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures invites scholars with an interest in teaching, leadership and expanding their research community to apply. This is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership potential and positively contribute to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is open to Canadian and international postdoctoral scholars across disciplines and is unique in its emphasis on the synergy of research goals and projects between applicants and host institutions. Fellowships are awarded to exceptional national and international postdoctoral researchers.

Procedure to apply
Applicants must first identify and contact a potential supervisor within the Department, complete the application package in consultation with the supervisor, and submit the package to the Associate Chair of Graduate Studies. Following internal adjudication, the Department will nominate one application to the university-wide competition, with finalist applications forwarded to the national competition. Notification of national results will take place in February 2024. Fellowship tenure may begin anytime between April and October 2024.

The internal department deadline for the application is June 15, 2023.
