iPRAKTIKUM Funded by Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development

Via the Career Ready Fund (CRF), project leads Helena Juenger and Stefan Soldovieri have secured a $35,000 grant from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD) to support iPRAKTIKUM experiential learning (EL) initiatives. The goal of the CRF is to improve the U of T’s ability to undertake and expand experiential learning programs by increasing the quantity and quality of EL opportunities unique to the context and strengths of the U of T. In addition to developing institution-wide best practices for engaging in EL, another key focus – and one that is particularly relevant for iPRAKTIKUM – is the creation of learning experiences to foster global fluency. Such opportunities include service learning with NGOs abroad or local placements with international organizations and companies. iPRAKTIKUM was the only humanities project to receive support.

This new funding will underwrite the development of Germany-based internships, undergraduate participation in our existing German in the City High School Partnership, continued project expansion in the GTA, as well as marketing and promotional activities. We are especially excited about our international initiatives, which will connect students learning German at the U of T with placement opportunities in the areas of sustainability and social innovation.
