If you are new to the program and have any pre-knowledge of German, you are required to take a placement test as soon as possible. Self-placement is not permitted in our program and will result in being dropped from the class. To find out more about the placement test and to schedule an appointment, please contact the undergraduate secretary, Gayle Grisdale.
The German Department does not permit auditing of courses. It is impossible to switch language course sections during the academic year.

Academic Advising
All instructors hold weekly office hours during the academic year for individual counseling. Students in German degree programs and students with specific questions about the program and courses should contact the relevant faculty or staff, the Undergraduate Secretary, Gayle Grisdale, or the Undergraduate Coordinator, Erol Boran.
A *Placement Test* is required for (a) any new student with *any* pre-knowledge of German, (b) students returning from study abroad terms. The test determines the appropriate language course level for you. Self-placement is not permitted. Find below the summer test dates. Please contact the undergraduate secretary, Gayle Grisdale (gayle.grisdale@utoronto.ca / 416-926-2324) to schedule an appointment as early as possible.

Thursday, June 16 at 11 a.m.
Wednesday. June 29 at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, July 12th at 10 a.m.
Monday, July 25th, at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, August 9th, at 12 noon
