“Transnational Perspectives on Black Germany” conference, May 23-25

The Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures, along with multiple sponsoring units here at the University of Toronto, is collaborating with the Black German Heritage and Research Association in hosting the conference “Transnational Perspectives on Black Germany” which will take place May 23-25, 2018 at the Innis Town Hall.  The event will feature a variety of scholarly panels on the topic of Black German history and cultural production, as well as two keynotes by respectively Dr. Fatima. El-Tayeb and activist, artist, writer Noah Sow, and two cultural evenings – a film screening at TIFF Lightbox of On Second Glance (Sheri Hagen, 2012) with director in attendance, and a dance/music/poetry performance at Robert Hill Theatre.
