I received my MA from the University of Würzburg in 1996 and my PhD from Ohio State University in 2004 with a dissertation on The History of Turkish-German Theater and Political Cabaret. Before joining the department in 2006, I taught language, literature and theatre courses at international universities, e.g. Freie Universität Berlin, Ohio State University, University of New Mexico, University of Texas and also at institutions such as the Goethe-Institute Thessaloniki. Since then I have taught widely on German culture, literature and drama. I have also been coordinating the undergraduate program since 2007. My academic interests lie in contemporary German literature and culture, in particular transnational/minority studies and Turkish-German stage productions. Additional areas of interest are drama in education and student theatre productions. Articles"Faces of Contemporary Turkish-German Kabarett – Probing the New Millennium."
